Contact: Carol Wright, CenterStage President – (559) 292-5955 Janet Stoll-Lee, Publicity – (559) 324-2447 CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre Celebrates its 20^th Season CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre celebrates its 20^th season with a big musical about the adventures of Huckleberry Finn in July of 2012. “Big River” debuted on Broadway in 1985. William Hauptman is the Tony Award winning author who wrote the book for the musical and Roger Miller penned the music and lyrics, bringing the legendary tale of Americana to the Broadway stage. The story, based upon Mark Twain’s novel, goes like this: The adventure-loving and reckless Huck escapes from the clutches of his violent father and takes off on a raft down the Mississippi River. Then, the escapades begin with his new friend, an escaped slave, Jim. A couple of escaped convicts join up with them and thicken the plot. Ultimately, Huck reunites with his best friend, Tom Sawyer. Together, they free Jim from slavery allowing him to go in search of his family. Longtime valley performer, director and choreographer Joshua Montgomery debuts with CenterStage as a director. His national acting credits include West Side Story and the West Side Story 50^th Anniversary Tour. His regional theatre credits include A Chorus Line, the National AIDS benefit, Universal Studios Hollywood and Disney Entertainment. He has worked extensively with local theatre companies and is a member of Actor’s Equity. Josh will be working closely with CenterStage’s new artistic director, Chris Lang. CenterStage is excited to bring this show to the stage in the Mercedes Edwards Theatre July 19 – 21 and 26 – 28, 2012, including matinee performances on Saturdays.
