Welcome to the CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre website. CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre is a community-based non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to bringing fine live theatre to the valley community. Since 1991, under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, CenterStage has provided theater opportunities for local actors and audiences to enjoy. Open auditions are held for each production and interested community members are invited to participate. A highly accomplished production staff works together with cast and crew to create fine comedy, musical and dramatic productions. CenterStage is supported through community donations, sponsors, and theater box office revenues.
Our Summer 2017 Production of Fiddler on the Roof will be our 25th Season!
How we got started
The organization began in December of 1991 as a volunteer committee working in conjunction with the Community Education Department of the Clovis Unified School District. Brian Roberts, as Community Education Director, worked with the committee to organize Center Stage Productions, as it was then called. The goal of CSP was to provide more theatre opportunities for members of the valley community. That dedication continues today. In 2000 the organization name was modified to read CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre to reflect the level of commitment to the community. Today, an all-volunteer board of directors plans, organizes and produces a season of live theatre each year.
In January of 1992, “Androcles and the Lion” was performed before delighted audiences and thousands of school children at the Mercedes Edwards Theatre in Clovis. In the following seasons, Center Stage presented mainstage musicals and theatrical productions at the MET and at various venues in the Clovis/Fresno area. Large musicals, comedies, dramas, classical Shakespeare in the Park, an original musical production, and a one-man show have been brought to the community through the efforts of CenterStage and the dedicated members of the valley community.
